For interior decor inspiration in your kitchen and elsewhere in the home, no app even comes close to Houzz in terms of sheer breadth of content. Hundreds of photos of gorgeous rooms will generate both inspiration and envy, with new images added regularly. Users can save images to an “Ideabook” from within the app or share them on social networks. Also included are articles giving home improvement advice, a section showcasing chic home products and an integrated forum. A Professionals Search function is a nice touch, but is unfortunately of limited use to UK users.

Moodboard allows you to create a virtual scrapbook of your design ideas and inspiration. You can clip images from the web or import them from your photo albums, as well as adding elements like push pins, labels and colour swatches, then drag to arrange them however you like. You can keep your boards private or you can share them with others and even make them collaborative. You can also find a wealth of home decor ideas by following other users and boards. Wondering what your kitchen would look like in another colour? This app allows you to “paint” a photo of your kitchen using your finger and then apply different colour swatches until you find one you like.

Evernote is a note-taking app that can be synced across a number of devices, including tablets, smartphones and desktop computers. It allows you to make notes, clip images and web pages, even record voice reminders, then access them wherever you are. Individual notes are stored in notebooks, which can be either private or shared (so more than one user can view and add to them).

Create the perfect colour scheme for your new kitchen with the Dulux colour app. If you see a striking new colour on the move, snap a picture and the app will match it to the closest Dulux paint. There are also multiple colour palettes to browse.

    Hey Clare, nice post. Paint My Wall Pro definitely looks useful! Although, for £2,49 it’s a bit steep, isn’t it!?
