Flat pack (our 'competitors')

500mm Drawer Pack
Installation guide

Step 1.

Remove the pieces from the box/boxes

Step 2.

Layout and check all the pieces. A typical 500mm drawer pack will have 138 pieces (or should have!)

Step 3.

Before commencing...
Warning: Installation should only be performed by a competent person - incorrect installation could be dangerous. Before you start, make sure you have the correct tools, plenty of space and a clean dry area for the construction of the unit.Read the instructions thoroughly and run through the order of construction.

The tools you will require are:

  • Cross head screwdriver
  • Drill
  • 3mm drill bit
  • 4.5mm drill bit
  • PVA wood glue
  • Bradawl
  • 2 pairs of Pliers
  • Hammer

Assembly should be done in the order shown in the diagrams, constructing one unit at a time and keeping the parts together to avoid losing them. Lay large panels on the floor using the packaging for protection. Do not over tighten, or under tighten the screws.

Step 4.

Fit the runners to the side panel as shown, with the runner wheel facing the front edge of the cabinet. Position the runners using the 3 pre-marked positions and secure in place using 3 x screws per runner. Using a bradawl, pilot a fourth fixing position using 1 x screw per runner. Repeat the above using runners on the other side panel.

Step 5.

Next, on each of the side panels you need to insert the 10 wooden dowels, making sure that you apply a small droplet of glue in each of the locations holes. Tap these in gently with a hammer to ensure each one locates correctly.

You know what...this is going to take ages, I really can’t be bothered with Steps 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12.

It’s going to take me days to copy out all these instructions (and it’ll probably take you weeks to build them all - I bet you’ve got at least another 12 units to build after this one).

All I can suggest is that you get someone in to put it all together for you - one or two flat-pack retailers offer an installation service (at extra cost - they say it’s easy to put together then charge to do it for you!) or you could try searching the internet (interestingly, when you search for 'flat pack furniture' you find loads of outfits which all they do is fit flat-pack furniture - just shows how difficult it actually is).

Good luck!
