As Mrs Sykes kitchen design required the space to function as a family kitchen and a workplace. Having looked at various purpose built catering style kitchen designs Mrs Sykes has discounted them as they simply did not work for a family kitchen. I explained to her that a rigid built German kitchen was the most robust domestic option and showed her the galvanised steel drawer boxes and soft close hinges that come as standard. With robustness in mind I also explained that upgrading to on...e of our lacquer finish doors would be well worth the small additional cost. I used the Pura door in this kitchen, which also has a sleek handle-less aesthetic. Storage was key in this kitchen design for the equipment required by Mrs Sykes’ new catering business. This has been taken care of by two tall larder units. One of which is a pull out - so ideal for all her ingredients. By keeping these grouped together it makes the space easy to use and maximises the worktop space. This has also been achieved in this design by bringing the worktop around the corner of the kitchen. My new kitchen was to be my workplace, as well as my family kitchen, I had decided to start a small catering business from home, this meant that my kitchen had to really step up to the mark. I had originally looked at install...ing a purpose made stainless steel catering kitchen, but it was too 'unfriendly' to also work as a family kitchen. I was in a dilemma, but then I met Michael, who firstly listened to me and then asked the appropriate questions to enable him to understand what I required. Michael gave me time, which is so important! I did not want this big decision to be rushed. Michael worked with what space I had to create the perfect workspace. More importantly, when it came to fitting, it worked to the letter, his design and measurements were spot on. I have had many admiring comments about my kitchen and I am totally delighted with the way 'it works for me'. Michael is also a very nice guy, as well as a gifted designer, he is a pleasure to deal with. More
